At last i started the repair to my rear !!

Well after i finally finished the heater channel on the bug well finished enough to put it back together and use the bug again, i must admit this took way to long i suppose with Xmas's in the middle and me old aching back, it was to be expected. Well it was quite some time ago now when me bus took a shunt up the arse by of all things a souped up bloody Megan, so i shoved the bus into the garage and took the bumper off so i could have a better look at the, the point of impact it ain't pretty & if i have to be honest actually worse than i thought, any one who actually knows me bus will be aware that it has got overiders on it, the problem was these were only bolted in by one bolt not the pair IE one through the middle and the one that goes through from the  bottom was missing.

When Mr Megan hit the old girl it actually twisted the Overider up and cut a perfect Overider shaped cut in the rear quarter & while cutting actually done quite a bit of damage to the battery tray. The rear hatch has been dented although it is hard to show in the pictures, The rear valance has taken quite a shunt, these did need to be replaced. enter Spike Hughes of House of Dub(www.hodimports.com) if you are looking for early bay parts a restoration or a complete van give them a call. Sales pitch over any way spike managed to get me what can only be described as two superb items to replace the damaged ones.

Pictures below Not many as usual i get carried away then think oh shit no pictures.

Bumper removed, You can see the cut just below where the light fits.

Added this one as it shows the overider shaped cut a bit clearer.

Like i said it not overly clear but you cam make out the dent just below the latch plate.

This pic shows the latch is not at the angle it should be.

This picture shows the damage to the battery tray, this picture was taken again after i had knocked it about a bit.

Ho these are the panels i got from house of dub picture don't do them justice these are really good panels.

So after this little play i turned my attention to the offending overider that inflicted the damage we have been looking at, this in its self was damaged and i hasten to add that both people that quoted for the works wanted to replace, so i though about it long and hard took at least two or three possibly at a stretch four minutes, NNAA i can can straighten that, so i did pictures below.

This pic shows the impact damage to the overider and you can see the impact has bulged the side out as well, the mating edge to the bumper is also out of shape.

This image shows the dent from another angle.

A good rub down prior to tackling the offending dent, and all because the fucking Megan driver couldn't pay attention and whack, What a twat.

Right then i will say at this point the over rider is made of decent gauge steel being original items, so i did use proper source of heat as you can see.

I used a large wooden block as to rest the over rider on while applying force via a suitable sized set of ball end hammers.

And if i say so when comparing the repaired to the original that's a pretty satisfactory result, i think it should pass.

And from another angle just to show it really is straight.

The last picture is just to show what tools i used to under take this task, simple tools we all have, i like to do these things and put them on as i believe it does show what we can achieve if we make the effort and apply some though & effort. And although i am not sure of the cost of a repro part i would bet money I've saved between £30 & £50 to me that's a result, and it took about two hours.

Again to all that look, Thanks it makes it worth it, Feel free to comment i do for one like & enjoy the fact that people have had a look and read the entry's.

Thanks again.

Heater channel part duex.

Hello once again we are back to continue the ongoing dribble i call a blog entry, were as i do my best my best to you a breast of my continued efforts to combat the cancerous disease we all no as Rust.

last time i put a post on i was mid watythrough the delicate task of grafting a new passenger side heater channel into me bug, Its not really delicate as i have been using several hammers a large chisel and a grinder, Oh and obviously several obligatory profanities! I'm gonna have to admit i am not sure that is spelt correctly i also have to admit i don't realy give a shit! i have been told i should not really use such words in my blog but i like looking at the past so to those people look back about 27 or 28 words that will tell you my thoughts.

Any as usual I'm rambling, back to the heater channel, it is finally done and just needs to have its MOT, When funds allow. In the last post the heater channel was being made ready to be put in place ready to be mocked up, I did find that the rear had been repaired several times so i chose to replace a section of the rear in order to remove the dodgey section just to remove all the rot and old repairs. there was an iffy section on the floor from a whack to the jacking point, this had actually damaged the floor so this needed to be repaired, there was a bit of rot in the bulk head that needed to be dealt with i think that in the future the bulk head will need to be replaced that will be interesting. Any way threes a few Pictures below to show the end results, again thanks for looking and feel free to comment.

This is the whacked Jacking point see the nice curve we have, Ouch.

This the damage caused by the jacking point, it had fractured the floor causing cracks that had allowed rot to start.

Sorted, cleaned up and taken back to clean good metal.

The under side of the the damaged floor, i decided to seem it up from both sides to ensure it is strong and limits chance of rot setting in. I do want to point out sometimes these are just my opinions and my own methods not always the practised Norm.

The rubber is a bit of a bastard to keep in place in the little lugs are missing that hold it in place while the body is manoeuvred, this can be a major pisser trust me, so i decided to use pop rivets to hold the rubber in place, Hey it worked so don't Knock it, may have to POP a Cap in yo ass !

Another shot of the rubber, not that i have any kind of fetish about the stuff, Honest Guv.

Money being tight as it is for us all I'm sure i chose to clean up the plates & re-use i did buy new Bolts as this obviously is a must.

Well its in its all down hill from here.

Bolted in to ensure it stays in the right place while we weld.

As you can obviously see we have a few gaps here this was done in order to cut out some rot that i needed to remove to stop it spreading.

The welding process can begin i started in side at the rear as i normally do, i can say this as i have now managed to achieve three installations now (yeah big words now), Must be Mad.

The new panel trimmed and ready to install,as you can see the holes allow spot welds, the line along the top is the joggled edge, this allows the two edges to over lap and weld together, as if you don't know that, Fuck in sap !

As i do this i find my self thinking i need to do it different each time, the picture i didn't take was the were i bolted the wings and the running boards on to make sure that it all fitted together, if you look you can see the running board under the car, and the wing is still bolted on while the new plate was spotted in place so they cant move.

Welded, the scorch marks, i have to admit were either wax Oil or under seal that was inside and ran down through heat and hence flames and smokey marks, I'm honest, You never stop learning.

All the little bits done now just the front to do.

This panel is for the front, i needed to repair the front inner wing as per usual, i chose to make my own panel, and here it is, DER DER !! i think that's how you do it, is it?

My panel, in place welded up, coolio.

The inside again the door pillar was a little shit so i repaired that as well.

Repair to the bulk head, this will need further surgery later in life.

Red primer to add that little protection, its like a condom in Can for metal, Safe.

And in the front, looks reasonable if i say so my self.

Inside rear, getting boring now move on!

Yeah i heard you, you know.

Front.

Nearly Done.

Back on its wheels yeah baby.

That's the seat in think were done.

The workshop is empty, ready for the bus, as i still need to repair the rear quarter from the whack.

The bug back outside just need to MOT the bloody thing now, its all bloody money ain't it.

Well any one who has been on my Blog before & who follow my Blog Thanks to those you know who you are! If I'm honest i know who some of you are but there are a couple that i have no friggin Idea, but you interest is much appreciated, OH god i can feel myself welling up the emotion of it all.
OOPS i must be showing my softer side HHHMM.

Back to the bug, Well the old gal was  supposed to for the dreaded health check in November but last time round i was aware that loitering under the glued on carpets to the passenger side heater channel the was some crustiness, so i Pulled the bus out of the work shop, me other woman as the wife calls her and shoved the bug in, Then that's were i left them, Bad arse Fuck i left me bus out side man must be mad.

Well the Xmas break has arrived so i thought i got to do it the bus needs to go back in the shop.

Oh Fuck yeah i ain't added the pictures have i ( Picture me hands om head saying that) such a drama queen me i know most of you that know me are probably saying Fuck off ! right now but makes good reading HAHAHA. No you wont believe it but in an earlier post i have pics of the repair i done on the rear quarter from a smack , Well some Chuffing NHS employed Yuppie smacked my bus in the same fucking place do you believe that if it weren't for bad luck i wouldn't have any fucking luck at all,
Yeah I'm grizzling again i know Bah Fucking Hum Bug especially to NHS Geeks that Drive Fucking Renault Megan's TWAT.

Any way as per usual i seem to have digressed again into what is obviously a traumatic triggered case of Megan driver tourettes. But what this is all about is the Bug i have taken photos of the heater channel and what is obviously just a case of flaky skin. Pictures below for prosperity. Fucking Twat Megan driver Twat Twat Twat.

That my Boy, he likes to give a hand but his boredom fresh hold is short.

But never the less he does get this job done, good lad & at £0.00 phr he is cheep.

As you can see it has a few holes there Now but i am sure you have all seen worse.

Well alright not much worse.

Yeah Yeah i know its dreadful I'm so ashamed twat Megan driver !!

As this picture shows there was not actually a heater channel left,
good stuff carpet hides a multitude of sins you know.

Oh and we like things like this a repair on a repair ooh excellent and look at the
First repair it has at least six spot welds, proper job that one.

That's what we like plenty of crap it shows you've done some thing.
 yeah purchased a rotten motor.

Bulk head suffering as well not sure how much or how far to go with this,
its a parts getter as long as she passes it can wait !!!!

Not clever is it.

At last a well earned break, SSHH dont wake me.

This is my new GSF heater Channel really Good quality NOT!
But its all i can afford at the moment.

There's gaps every where, if you have the bucks buy a genuine German one,
I have read in a commercial magazine, Volks world i think it was VW are now producing
Genuine Vw quality parts for early models excellent.

Look at the production level theres a lot of time and effort gone it to that,
you cant just produce stuff like that any where you know taken years to perfect.

Well thanks for looking peeps, update again soon, Sooner i should say i intend to finish by the end December so keep ya eyes open, To all i know & too all i don't but who take the time to read my Blog i hope you all have a most excellent Very Merry Xmas & new year just in case i don't finish before End December.

OH except any one who drives a Megan LOL .
