Dunstable Dubbers meeting was a nice turn out again for the time of year, Fucking Cold is the words i was looking for, Excuse the Spanish i would say french but i failed french at school so it cant be that can it! You know i hated school. Any way enough my own meandering experiences, I just thought about a land rover i followed home today it had one of those stickers in it, You know the One it says One life life live it, Never a truer word spoken. but it should be in a volkswagon.
Any way enough of all that Old bollocks let see some photos of the meet, I do apologise if there seems to be a few of a certain Crew Cab but i thought it was the Mutts dangler's.

Beetle Bonnet the last Post.
Well the bonnet is all but done, Need a few trim clips to put the centre trim on and that's about it. As usual i have painted the bonnet with my trade mark scheme and by the time many of you read this the front & rear wings will be painted two, i must admit my words going back a few entries ago may have been a bit eager, if i had taken the new hood route it would have been completed quite some time ago, But on the other hand it save me money and has filled that endless void of dark nights with little to do, I've got that sense of achievement that the new hood would not have given me, That learning curve were you find out what you are capable of. on that note that's why i started this blog in the first place, I just want the people i know and the one that may stumble across my blog that it ain't that hard. I suppose it depends on what floats ya boat, Some people just want the car but don't want the work, but to me the work and the build is what its all about.
As usual I've got some pictures for you to see, And i hope this time to get some comments as to you points of view, If i don't i may have to refer to you all as miserable bastards in my next update, this will be the installation of the front clip although this was prior to my owning the Bug

Well lads and lasses as i assume some where along the line some lovely young lady will look at my dribble, this is how we left it last time round. |
Top coat done nice and dry not a bad shine and that is still untouched by any polish. |
This one shows how they actually match the front slam panel, i bet that got you excited or is that just me, tell you what don't tell me ! |
The masking process begins, this is actually very time consuming, and awkward to get the tape just right. |
Half way there been at it for several hours by know just with the tape. |
There is something so good about painting, its that sense of nearing the end, And if you don't open the door you get High as Fuck ! |
Bright and early on the Sunday morning still singing like Frank Sinatra doing an impression of some one who cant sing you can only imagine, the unveiling of the finished bonnet. |
Just put this one in cos i thougth it was cool ! |
I know I'm stating the obvious but its a painted wing !! |
Its like i said time and effort its surprising what you can do even in you own work shop. |
Well two painted wings Front slam panel done, Just the head lights left to do |
Again just put this one in again, cos i thought it was a good photo. |

The past is what leads your way.
Well i know at the start of my blog i said it will be Volkswagen Based, well the other day my mate Dave, You will notice his name pops up a lot as i do my occasional wander in to days gone bye. we happened to be chatting away about the usual old bollocks us old farts do, that's gonna give Dave the pisser as he's now been labelled as an old fart, oh i wish you could see me laughing. see i told you i wander off. any way as we chatted Dave happened to mention he found some old photos he was showing his better half and apparently i had hair !!
When he eventually brought them round it was agreed that these were exactly the sort of material i should put on my blog, OK i admit the car in them is not a Volkswagen but it gives an indication of my Chequered past, theres a pun if ever the was one Chequered Past, i have to admit i can be such a knob.
Take a look at the pictures, i can assure you what you see is the real thing and was undertaken by me from start to finish, The vehicle did belong to some bloke i know called Dave, Have i ever mentioned him!! Only joshing.
I must admit there is something quite good about the old school hot rod style, you know you just have to agree.
Catch up with you all soon.

This is where the whole job started, done it just to see how it looked. |
Some weeks later in a friends workshop/Yard. |
Right then i will not have any comments about hair, How much & especially Colour !!! |
In the booth she went. |
A coat of Primer, i am in there some where. |
Black got to be the worst colour. |
Nearly covered. |
Let the fun begin getting things symmetrical was the hard part, up to this point had taken a lot of Hours. |
Lets lay on some colours then. |
Taking shape we only had three colours to play with and a short period of time. |
That all the colours done allow time to dry, at this point the anticipation was killing me. |
The result, Not that bad don't ya know. |
Looks sweet don't you think. |
Should have gone into a different trade. |
I must say i do believe theres some depth to that paint. |
Catch up with you all soon.
